Lab 7: Geologic Structure - Faults - Oblique-Slip


Oblique slip is a mixture of dip-slip motion and strike-slip motion. Technically, most faults along local stretches will have a combination of dip- and strike-slip motion, but usually one is dominant. The following animation shows fault movement that is perfectly oblique-slip, with just as much movement along strike of the fault plane as along dip of the fault plane:
